Survivor Support Services

The Suicide Prevention Center provides several programs for those who have had a loved one die by suicide and those affected by a suicide attempt. Grieving takes time and we are here to help. You are not alone.

After Suicide Support Group provides a safe place to connect and share with others who are coping with the sudden loss of a loved one who died by suicide. The group usually meets on the last Tuesday of the month but check with the facilitator by calling 574-314.5426 or emailing klaudeman@uhs-in.org to confirm the meeting date and time.

Local Outreach to Survivors of a Suicide (LOSS) team is available to meet with survivors in the days and weeks following the death of a loved one to suicide. We provide support and information on local resources. Call 574-314-5426.

Community Awareness Programs

The Suicide Prevention Center organizes several events to raise awareness of suicide prevention and to eradicate the silence that often surrounds suicide.

Virtual Race to Save Lives is a 5K, 10K and Walk of Hope event which raises awareness and much needed financial support  for suicide prevention programs. This event occurs can be done anytime from September 1 - October 31.  Registration opens on August 15 and ends on October 15th, 2020.

Paint the Town Yellow raises funds and awareness to prevent suicide. Proceeds benefit youth suicide prevention education in our local schools. In 2020 this event was cancelled due to COVID 19.  This week-long event will take place in April, 2021.
